Angouleme Museum

Established in 1920, the museum of fine arts now has extremely rich collections documenting 500 thousand. years of history - from the time of the Neanderthals to the 20th century. At the exhibitions you can see, among others skeletons of fossil elephants and the skulls of Cro-Magnon people, Celtic weapons from the 4th century BC, and a wonderful collection of 19th-century paintings.
