KONGENS LYNGBYDänemark
Sophienholm
Lokaler Name: Sophienholm
The historic mansion was built in the late 1860s by Johan Theodor Holmskiold, the then owner of the property, who named it after his wife Sophie. It owes its present, classicist appearance to a thorough reconstruction at the beginning of the 19th century. Currently, it houses an art museum, in which 4 to 5 thematic exhibitions are organized every year.
The residence is surrounded by a picturesque park in a romantic English style. Among the alleys there are, among others a Chinese pavilion, a Norwegian house and a Swedish house. During the walk, it is worth paying attention to the extensive chestnut tree growing next to the gardener's house - it was planted around 1830.
