Cavtat is a resort town on the Adriatic Sea. There are many hotels and guesthouses here, and the historic buildings of the Old Town rises on the Rat Peninsula. Due to its location, Cavtat can be a good base for exploring Dubrovnik.

The history of the city dates back to ancient times. There was a Greek colony here, and in Roman times a settlement, after which the amphitheater and the ruins of the villa remained. Already in the 6th century a bishopric was established here, and in the Middle Ages Cavtat came under the rule of the Republic of Ragusa.

Currently Cavtat is divided into two parts. On the Rat peninsula, there is the Old Town, formerly enclosed by walls and separated from the mainland by a canal. Among its monuments are the Church of St. Nicholas, the Franciscan monastery from the 15th century and the Rectors' Palace, where the authorities were granted by Ragusa.

On the shores of the Adriatic Sea is the new part of the city with numerous guesthouses and hotels. The buildings are immersed in greenery, and the fragmented coast full of coves is perfect for relaxation. The biggest attraction of Cavtat is the beach. It is partially covered with sand, and partially there are natural sea pools situated between the rocks. There are also many other beaches in the area, such as Kljucice Beach. In addition to sunbathing, sea kayaking is a popular form of spending free time. There is a rental of equipment here, and canoe trips are also organized.
