The art gallery building was built in 1917-1918 and opened on October 5, 1918. Since then, it has hosted numerous contemporary art exhibitions. The museum owes its international fame to the exhibitions of famous European and world artists. The gallery featured works by Paul Klee, Jasper Johns and Daniel Buren.
