Fuerte Oscar II

Fort Oscar II is located on the south side of the Gothenburg harbor entrance. It was built in the years 1899–1907 as part of the defensive fortress of Älvsborg, which no longer exists. It was used until the Second World War, after which it was closed. Currently, it houses a museum, and the restored interior of the fort can be visited both independently and with a guide.

The main part of the fort is located in the upper part of Västerberget. The core of the entire facility, surrounded by a moat, aiming posts and shooting ranges, as well as a water reservoir have survived to the present day. From the main part of the fort, there are two tunnels leading to the other side of the moat. The fort could accommodate 300 soldiers.
