The Colibița Dam was built on the Bistriţa Bargaului River between the Călimani and Bârgăului mountains. Its construction lasted from 1977 to 1991. It is 92 m high, and its width ranges from 300 m at the base to 250 m at the top. The construction of the dam resulted in the creation of Lake Colibita, 13 km long. The tourist resort Colibişa Resort is located on its shores.
