Monasterio Caraiman

The Orthodox monastery stands in a clearing surrounded by forest at the foot of the Caraiman massif. It was founded in 1998 on the initiative of father Gherontie Puiu. There is a cultural and educational center run by monks right next to the monastery. It organizes trainings, conferences and meetings. Their participants and ordinary pilgrims can stay overnight in the monastery.

The monastery can be reached by car, taking a road with numerous serpentines, which provides picturesque views while driving. There is also a path leading through the fir forest, which Gherontie Puiu's father came to this place.
