The history of this historic street dates back to the Middle Ages. Nowadays, you can admire the well-preserved old architecture. High-rise buildings with decorative facades house shops, boutiques, restaurants and galleries. You can often meet street musicians here, there are also regular fairs and cultural events.
Originally, there were many craft workshops on the street, and the street itself was called after the potters. In the following centuries, this place gained the status of a shopping center. Fairs of fruit, crops, flax and flowers were held here.
The street is also called Purzengasse, or Gate Street. The name refers to the tower with the gate and on which a massive clock decorated with decorative frescoes is placed. He helped the craftsmen working here to better organize their work.
