Javornik is a town at the foot of the Golden Mountains, called Rychlebské Hory on the Czech side. There is a magnificent castle open to the public, and the surrounding area is perfect for hiking.
The town is located on the Polish-Czech border and is part of Lower Silesia. Its history is connected with the castle built here in the 13th century by the Piast prince Bolek. Initially, it was a border watchtower, but with time it changed its character into a summer residence of Wrocław bishops.
Today, the Jansky Vrch Castle, standing on a rock promontory above the buildings, is Javornik's biggest attraction. Inside, you can see original equipment and furnishings mainly from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Above Javornik rise the forested ridges of the Golden Mountains along the Polish-Czech border. On the border peak of Borówkowo there is an observation tower from which you can admire the views of the surrounding area. The ruins of the Rychleby Castle, hidden in the forests on the slope of the mountains, are also a popular destination.
