Ruinas del castillo de Krupem

Nombre local: Ruiny Zamku w Krupem

The remains of the fortifications built in the 16th century over the backwaters constituting the Wieprz River basin. Various types of outdoor events are organized on their premises. The castle was destroyed after a fire in 1794. Some of the walls were also pulled down by the Germans during World War II. In 1962 the ruins were secured - reinforced and partially restored.

The castle was built on a brick and stone square plan. It was a strongly fortified structure, equipped with four masts, a curtain wall with shooting porches, as well as a moat and a drawbridge. In the second half of the 16th century, the castle was expanded and given it a Renaissance style. The building was owned by many influential noble families - including Rejów, descendants of the famous poet, Mikołaj Rej.

The action of one of the novels of the 19th-century writer from the Romantic period - Michał Czajkowski, takes place at the Krupem Castle.
