Ciechanów is a historic city, known primarily from the Gothic Castle of the Dukes of Mazovia. There is also a modern Torus Science Park, created in cooperation with the Copernicus Science Center from Warsaw.

The area of Ciechanów was already inhabited in the early Middle Ages. In the 6th century there was a town here, the remains of which are the so-called Farska Górka. In the 19th century, a neo-gothic belfry was erected on its top.

During the Middle Ages, the castle and then the city were the seat of the Dukes of Masovia. They built a castle in Ciechanów, which is currently the city's biggest attraction. Currently, it functions as a permanent ruin, but an exhibition pavilion has been built in the courtyard, where you can see exhibitions related to the excavations carried out in the castle and the history of the stronghold.

The parish church of St. Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is a late-Gothic building with a decorative gable, the interior of which was rebuilt at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. There are now neo-Gothic polychromes and the main altar.

Another attraction of Ciechanów are the local museums. The Museum of the Masovian Nobility collects memorabilia related to the life of this social group from the 15th to the 19th centuries. Both the history of the largest families of Mazovia and the fate of the small farm nobility are presented. The newest facilities are the Torus Science Park and the Water Tower. The reservoir, built in 1972, does not currently fulfill its function, and there is a viewing point on its top. An interactive science center was opened in the buildings surrounding the tower in 2018.
