Chateau du Castellas

The castle, situated on a hill, was built around 1125. In turbulent times, the fortress attracts settlers who can count on shelter during invasions. In the 13th century, the fortress became a refuge and a place of resistance for Cathars who were considered heretics by the papacy. The fortress, abandoned in the 16th century, gradually fell into ruin.
