Capilla de san José de Cluny

Nombre local: Chapelle Saint Joseph de Cluny

Saint Joseph's Chapel is a neo-Gothic monastic temple belonging to the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Cluny. It is a neo-Gothic, three-nave building with a transept and a tin tower above the entrance. In the basement of the chapel there is the tomb of the foundress of the congregation, Blessed Anna Maria Javouhey.

The chapel was built in the mid-nineteenth century. In its vaults, Anna Maria Javouhey, the founder of the Josephines of Cluny, a missionary congregation operating mainly in France, was buried in 1851.

The architecture of the chapel is inspired by 13th century French churches. It has a three-nave body with a transept and a polygonal chancel. Above the walls there are stone pinnacles, and above the entrance there is a soaring tower made of metal. The interior of the church is very simple and is rarely open to the public. It is intended mainly for the purposes of the congregation.
