It is a district of Paris with a history dating back almost 4000 BC. It is now home to the city's shopping center and many other tourist attractions. These include libraries, a film library, Bercy Park, which used to be the world's largest center of wine and spirit, and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
The first human traces in these areas come from around 4500 BC - there are thousands of everyday objects and three oak canoes. However, Bercy is best known for being one of the most important wine markets in the world in the 19th century. Until today, tourists can admire the historic 19th-century wineries, and sometimes you can stumble upon rails left by old cisterns carrying wine.
