Reserva natural del valle de Chaudefour

Chaudefour Valley Nature Reserve was established in 1991 in the area of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park. It includes an area of steep slopes, ravines, moors, meadows and peat bogs with hot and mineral springs.

It is a great place for hiking and climbing for the whole family. Maps of all marked routes are available in the information center located in the reserve. You can also see exhibitions on the local geology, fauna and flora. It is worth paying attention to the collection of life-size painted sculptures depicting local reptiles.

The Chaudefour Valley Nature Reserve is home to over 1,200 animal species, of which over 400 are butterflies and over 180 spiders. Among mammals, you can meet roe deer, hares, ermines and squirrels, and in the higher areas also chamois, moufflons and marmots.
