Crikvenica is a resort on the Kvarner Bay. In front of it is the island of Krk, so the sea is not fully open here and the water heats up to higher temperatures than in other parts of the coast. The beaches here are narrow, sandy and gravel, but well developed.
The town has almost no historic buildings. The only exception is the 15th-century Frankopan Castle, where the hotel currently operates. The resort has been developing since the end of the 19th century, when the Austrians built the first hotel here. Due to the mild climate that helps in the treatment of respiratory diseases, the spa also operates here.
The attractions of Crikvenica focus on the possibility of relaxing by the sea. Crikvenica Beach and Podvorska Beach offer warm sea, the possibility of renting sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as canoe, pedal boat and snorkeling equipment rentals.
There is also a Sea Aquarium in Crikvenica where you can admire fish and other aquatic animals from all over the world. there is also the Crikvenica City Museum, a boulevard with palm trees and a small yacht harbor.
