Margegaj is a village in the North Albanian Mountains, which is a good base for exploring the surrounding landscape attractions. Scenic river canyons and the Valbona Valley National Park are nearby.

The North Albanian Mountains, also known as the Albanian Alps, are among the most important landscape attractions of the country. They still remain free from mass tourism, and there are relatively few hiking trails for such a large area. There are, however, unmarked paths, requiring tourists to become more familiar with mountain hiking.

The biggest attraction of this area is the Valbona Valley National Park, which covers the karst valley of this river. Its sources are located under the highest of the surrounding peaks, Maja e Jezercës. It is almost 2700 m above sea level, and the summit can be reached by one of several marked routes. The most popular one leads from the north, through the picturesque Buni Jezerce valley.

Other attractions of the Margegaj area are the Gashi River nature reserve with the gorge in a deep rock gorge and the Shoshan Canyon with numerous walking paths. A nice place for trips is also the Liqeni ii Xhemes lake located in a beech forest, near which the road connecting the villages of Valbona and Dragobi runs.
