Punta del Este is a resort town on the Atlantic Ocean. It is located on a fairly narrow peninsula whose shores are covered with beaches. It is one of the most expensive and exclusive places in Uruguay, often compared with European Monaco.
The peninsula on which the city is located is densely built-up, mainly with apartment buildings and expensive hotels. On the shores there are beaches such as El Emir Beach and Mansa Beach. Here and there are the remnants of planted eucalyptus groves and araucaria that decorate the streets. The most exclusive villas are hidden among them.
Visiting Punta del Este is primarily walking along the seaside promenades. Among the modern buildings, you can find the pretty church of Nossa Senhora da Candelaria and the Punta del Este lighthouse. Nearby on one of the beaches is the famous Palce Punta del Este monument, which attracts tourists from all over the world.
Another attraction of Punta del Este is the port where boats and yachts from all over the world are moored.
