Torrox lighthouse stands on a rocky coast at an altitude of 39 m above sea level. It was built in 1864. It has the form of a 23-meter cylindrical tower, painted white, topped with a double gallery and the adjoining lighthouse keeper's house. Currently, the lighthouse houses the Torrox Maritime Museum.
As a curiosity, it is worth mentioning that in 1905, Tomás García Ruíz, who worked as a lighthouse keeper, began excavations around the tower, during which he found the remains of the ancient Roman villa Clavicum. Some of the exhibits from the excavations can be seen at one of the exhibitions in the lighthouse.
