Established at the end of the 19th century, the park was named after the Spanish politician and historian Antonio Cánovas del Castillo. On its premises you can see many historic fountains, a pavilion called the "temple of music" from the end of the 19th century and monuments, incl. by the famous poet José María Gabriel y Galán.
