One of the gardens is located north of the Royal Palace. It was built at the request of Philip II and is an example of a Renaissance garden. The works began in the 16th century, but numerous reconstructions lasted until the 18th century. In the garden, the fountain of Hercules, Apollo and Venus deserves attention. Marble and bronze for the statues were imported mainly from Italy.
