Lusatian Museum

Local name: Muzeum Łużyckie

The Lusatian Museum in Zgorzelec is a relatively new cultural institution. For now there is one permanent exhibition showing the interior of the Sorbian cottage and its model. The museum also organizes temporary exhibitions imported from other institutions throughout the country.

The Lusatian Museum was opened in 2007. It is dedicated to the cross-border region of Lusatia, in which Zgorzelec lies. It is located in one of the tenement houses in the city center, which has been adapted for exhibition purposes.

There is a permanent exhibition devoted to everyday life in Upper Lusatia. The museum rooms have recreated the appearance of a local half-timbered cottage. The front wall uses elements of the original hut from Skrzydlice. Furniture, everyday objects, clothes and craft products obtained from houses in the vicinity of Zgorzelec found their place here. In addition to the interior itself, you can also see a model of the Lusatian cottage at the exhibition.
