Radomierzyce Palace
Local name: Pałac Radomierzyce
The monumental baroque palace located on an artificial island on the Nysa Łużycka River is considered the most beautiful of its kind in Upper Lusatia. Two stone bridges lead here across the moat. In 1999, the decaying residence was purchased by an entrepreneur, Marek Głowacki, who planned to renovate the palace and then open a hotel and conference center there.
The magnificent residence was built in 1708-1728 by order of the then chamberlain of King August II the Strong - Joachim Zygmunt von Ziegler-Klipphausen. An interesting fact is the architects' reference to the passage of time - the palace is equipped with 12 chimneys (symbolizing the months of the year), 52 pairs of large doors (symbolizing weeks) and 365 windows.
Interesting and extremely mysterious is the war and post-war history of the residence. It is said that members of the Third Reich intelligence had built an armored room where secret documentation was stored. In 1945, the materials were taken over by the military. A Polish politician and communist general - Piotr Jaroszewicz, killed in 1992, was to participate in it. Other participants in the 1945 events also died shortly after.
