Church St. James the Apostle
Local name: Kościół św. Jakuba Apostoła
The church James the Apostle in Oles Lubuski is a Gothic parish church. The interior of the temple is: a wooden altar in the late Renaissance style with an altar cross, a pulpit, a stone baptismal font, a wooden piggy bank, the baroque painting "Crucifixion", organs with a neo-Gothic organ prospect and a candlestick.
This Gothic temple was erected in the years 1298 - 1380. It was rebuilt and expanded three times: in the 15th century, in the 16th century and in 1834. In 1538 the church was taken over by Protestants. In the same year the tower was destroyed by a lightning strike. The next destruction of the church took place half a century later, when a great fire consumed Ośno Lubuskie, including a large part of the church.
After World War II, the church of St. James the Apostle in Oles Lubuskie returned to the hands of Catholics and was consecrated in 1963. In today's form, after many conversions, extensions, reconstructions and renovations, it is a temple with three naves. Has a separate presbytery.
