Vettisfossen Waterfall
Local name: Vettisfossen
Vettisfossen is a waterfall in southwestern Norway, located in the Jotunheimen National Park. Its height is 275 meters (it is a single stream). The name comes from the nearby old Vetti farm, whose historic buildings can still be seen today.
The Vettisfossen waters are mainly fed by melting snow and ice from the Stølsnosbreen and Koldedalsbreen glaciers. It is the largest waterfall in the Jotunheimen National Park and one of the largest in the country.
The nearby Vetti farm was built in 1120. Currently, it serves as a tourist base, where you can eat during the mountain hiking. A path leads from Vetti to the Vettisfossen waterfall itself. Another 2 km long trail takes you to Vettismorka, another old farm worth visiting.
