Strumica is often called the hottest city in North Macedonia. In summer, the weather is usually record-breaking and the weather is very dry. A hill with the ruins of a fortress rises above the town, and some old buildings can be found in the old town.
The city is a multicultural center and, like many others in North Macedonia, people of different religions live side by side. When visiting Strumica, you can see, among others The New Mosque, the Macedonian Greek Catholic Church or the Church of the Martyrs of Strumica. Some traditional houses have been preserved in the center, among which there is a market during the day. The buildings are compact, and the houses are quite low and covered with tiles. The city's history is presented by the City Museum in Strumica.
The oldest part of the city is situated on a hill, with the ruins of a Turkish fortress on its top. The Strumica fortress is the most important monument and attraction of the city, and its walls offer a nice view of the surrounding area.
