Savanne is the southern district of Mauritius, known for its many natural and scenic attractions. The coast here is rocky and there are no good conditions for relaxation, but this is compensated by wonderful views.
The big attraction of Savanne is the rocky coast of Gris Gris with its numerous coves and cliffs. The only beach in the region is on the west side of Pointe aux Roches, where you can relax on the sand and enjoy a wide range of water sports.
Inland, tropical forests and interesting rock formations dominate. There are also sugar cane plantations, including one with 19th-century roots, and the former vanilla plantation has been turned into the Crocodile Vanille Park Reserve.
Lovers of beautiful views will find many attractions in Savanne. It is primarily the Rochester and Alexandra waterfalls, as well as the Gorges viewpoint, from which you can admire the panorama of the deep river canyon covered with forests.
