The representative and defense castle in Trakai is one of the most popular attractions in Lithuania. The castle was erected in the Gothic style on the largest of the three islands, Lake Galwe. It took place in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, and the construction was commissioned by the Lithuanian Grand Duke Kiejstut and his son Witold. The fortress was at that time an important center of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and today it is under the care of the Historical Museum.
