Local name: Fjallið Landmannalaugar
The mountain massif is called the Rainbow Mountains. It owes its name to the various shades of the mountains - from yellow and orange to black. These colors are the result of geothermal activity and the minerals contained in the soil. You can also see small sulfur lakes here.
