Árborg is a municipality on the southeast coast of Iceland, the main tourist and administrative center of which is Selfoss. It is now an important housing base for nearby Reykjavik and a good starting point for exploring this part of the country.
In 2018, Selfoss started the construction of a new city center consisting of reconstructed historic buildings from all over the country. It will be the largest such community in all of Iceland and will give tourists the opportunity to get to know the island's traditional architecture.
The attractions of the commune of Árborg are mainly related to the local landscape. There is a beautiful Selfoss waterfall with a very wide rock threshold. It is also close to one of the strongest European waterfalls, Dettifoss. The area also abounds in canyons and ravines, streams and small, wild thermal baths.
