The defensive walls of Provins were built between the 11th and 18th centuries. They were expanded with the development of the city and at the end of the 13th century they were 25 m high and 5 km long. Over the centuries, they have been destroyed several times, and part of the material from which they were built was used to build nearby houses. Currently, the walls measure a total of 1,200 m in height and are reinforced with 22 towers.
