Fort l'Ecluse

Local name: Fort l'Ecluse

The defensive structures existing in this place from the 13th century developed into the present system of fortifications in the years 1834-1848, when the upper fort was built, which was connected with a tunnel carved in the rock with the lower structure. Both could accommodate 500 soldiers and a battery of 35 guns. Currently, the forts are a museum and a viewing point.
