Abbey of Our Lady of Bec
Local name: Abbaye Notre-Dame du Bec
The 11th-century abbey is now a complex of buildings from various periods (church from the 14th century, monastery buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries), dominated by the powerful 15th-century tower of St. Nicholas. In its heyday, the abbey was the center of intellectual life in Europe - one of its priors was the famous theologian and Saint Anselm of Canterbury.
