The ruins of the 11th-century Benedictine abbey are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This place was one of the medieval centers of religious and intellectual life. In the period of the 18th and 19th centuries it fell into ruin - since 1960 it has been the property of the state surrounded by conservation.
