Saint-Leger Square is the historic main pedestrian area of the city of Chambéry. It is entirely paved and extends over 250 m in length. It measures 25 m in width on average. Along it there are numerous tenement houses, palaces and mansions, which now house shops, boutiques and restaurants.
The most important monuments are the three 17th-century mansions: Hotel Dieulefis, Hôtel de Montjoie and Hôtel du Bourget. There are also other noteworthy buildings that do not have the status of monuments, such as the Hotel Salteur of Serraz, whose façade dates back to the 18th century.
There are two fountains in front of the Hôtel du Bourget and close to Basse-du-Château and the bell tower at the corner of rue Porte-Reine. Its façade features a clock from 1897, the work of the architect Victor Dénarié and sculptor Jean Carle.
