Andlau Castle stands on a granite hill covered with forest, at an altitude of 451 m above sea level. It is a gothic defensive structure consisting of a residential building and two cylindrical towers. The castle is in a state of ruin.
The stronghold was built in the mid-thirteenth century. It belonged to the fortresses guarding the Franco-German border. It was used until the mid-seventeenth century, when it was seriously damaged during the Thirty Years' War.
Currently, the castle remains in a state of preserved ruin. It is renovated and protected against further damage. The so-called upper castle with two towers is visible from afar. Below in the forest you can see the remains of defensive walls and bastion fortifications from the Renaissance.
