Spy Museum

Local name: Vakoilumuseo

The Espionage Museum is located in downtown Tampere. It was the world's first publicly open museum dedicated to international espionage and the only museum of its kind in Europe. It is housed in the building of the former Finlayson factory.

The main exhibition presents the history and importance of espionage, the various methods and tools used by spies, and nuclear espionage during the Cold War period. Subsequent exhibitions are devoted to the profiles of world-famous spies, such as Kim Philby, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, Mata Hari and Oleg Gordievsky. The collected collections also include collections of eavesdropping devices, hidden microphones, lie detectors, cryptographic devices as well as false maps and hidden weapons.

When visiting the Espionage Museum, you can take a whimsical "agent test" and receive a letter of recommendation from one of the spy agencies and intelligence services such as the CIA, SÄPO, Supo and Mossad.
