The Sibelius Monument in Helsinki is dedicated to the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, who lived from 1865-1957. It was made by the artist Eili Hiltunen in 1967 as an abstract reference to the musician's work.
The monument consists of more than 600 hollow steel tubes that are connected to each other to form a wave pattern. The structure is 10.5 m long, 8.5 m wide and 6.5 m high. The whole weighs about 24 tons. As a curiosity, it is worth mentioning that a smaller replica of the monument stands at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
