The Presidential Palace in Helsinki is one of the official residences of the President of Finland. It stands on the northern side of the city's esplanade and overlooks the Market Square. It was built between 1816-1820 as a private residence and then bought by the state.
The palace houses the official representative rooms, the president's office, private apartments and administrative offices. The representative rooms include the State Room, the Mirror Room and the Dining Room. They hold official receptions and banquets, as well as ceremonies of appointing cadets of the Defense Forces and Border Guard.
