St. rotunda Catherine is a Romanesque building from the 12th century and the only preserved monument of the former prince's castle Przemyślidów. The building was created on the initiative of Prince Brzetyslaw I, as part of the border fortifications of southern Moravia. Originally, the church was dedicated to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, but on the occasion of the wedding of Konrad II Znojemski with Maria, daughter of the Serbian poviat Urosz I, it was rebuilt and the patron was changed to Saint. Catherine.
The temple was built on a circular plan in the center of the castle from local, irregular, dark stone. The object is devoid of any decorations. In the wall there are only tiny windows characteristic of the Romanesque style. Inside the building survived unique wall paintings from 1134 depicting scenes from the Bible and Czech rulers from the Przemyślid dynasty. The frescoes restored in 1949 are the best examples of Romanesque painting.
