Samostan, monastery Košljun Krk is a 15th century Franciscan monastery built on the small island of Košljun. The monastery owes its current shape to the reconstruction at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries. Currently, next to the religious congregation, there is an ethnographic museum, presenting natural and numismatic collections, and an interesting collection of sacred items (liturgical vessels, vestments, written documents).
The main altar in the monastery temple is the work of Girolamo da Santacroce from 1535. The image of Heaven, Purgatory and Hell presented above the altar was made in 1653 by Francesco Ughetto. In addition to works of art, the monastery has an invaluable collection of old prints - among 30,000 the item contains about 100 incunabula, along with the first edition of the Latin translation of the Ptolemy Atlas from 1511 (one of the three surviving copies in the world).
A characteristic object of the island and the monastery is a statue of St. Francis, accompanied by a wolf. It is an allegory of goodness and understanding that Saint. Francis showed all creatures.
