Akrotiri is part of the British overseas territory of Akrotiri and Dhekalia located in Cyprus. Mostly it belongs to a military base, but apart from it, there is also a fragment of a nice coast and a salt lake.

The British and Cypriots working in the military base live in Akrotiri. A large part of this area is occupied by arable land because there are good conditions for the development of agriculture. Near the base is Akrotiri's biggest attraction, a salt lake that partially dries up or fills up with water depending on the weather.

The coast around Akrotiri is mostly cliffy and rocky, with narrow sandy beaches. The beaches are public but mostly wild. Only here and there you can rent deckchairs or use the infrastructure. However, it gives the possibility of a peaceful rest away from the crowds.

While visiting Akrotiri, do not miss the Monastery of St. Nicholas. According to tradition, its founder was St. Helena. The monastery buildings that can be seen today come from the mid-twentieth century, but there are also fragments of medieval walls, the entrance portal and a decorative tympanum
