The Royal Palace of Aranjuez is one of the official estates of the Spanish monarchy. Since 2001, the entire complex is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The exquisite residence impresses with a variety of styles and a richly finished interior. The showpiece of the facility is a delightful garden and a unique room, the walls of which are entirely lined with porcelain.
The construction of the property began in the 16th century by order of King Philip II. The authors of the design were outstanding Spanish architects of the Renaissance period: Juan Bautista de Toledo and Juan de Herrera. In the 18th century, during the reign of Charles III, the residence was rebuilt and surrounded by a French-style landscaped park with many gardens.
The Royal Palace also surprises with its amazing exoticism. In its interiors you can admire, among others a well-arranged palm house and a unique Chinese living room decorated with nearly 200 original watercolors.
