Regionales Naturschutzgebiet der Isonzo Foce. Isola della Cona

The regional nature reserve was established in 1996 as a protected area, on an area of 2,338 hectares on the mainland, to which 1,154 hectares in water are added. The first mentions of this place come from the 19th century. In 2016, the reserve was declared a wetland area of international importance.
