SAN GIMIGNANOItalien
Kathedrale von San Gimignano
Lokaler Name: Duomo di San Gimignano
Church built in the 11th century in the center of San Gimignano and serving as a cathedral. It is a Romanesque structure with three naves and a very simple exterior. It does not announce how wonderful treasures are hidden inside the church.
In the fourteenth century, the entire walls were covered with frescoes forming the cycle of the Old and New Testaments. The colorful decorations show the history of salvation from the sin of the first people until the Ascension of Christ. The frescoes also decorate two chapels, in the Chapel of Santa Fina they are devoted to the life of Saint Seraphim and her life, in the Chapel of Conception to the Mother of God.weniger
