Mausoleum von Galla Placidia

5th century tomb chapel built for Gaul Placidia, daughter of Emperor Theodosius I. Along with seven other medieval monuments in Ravenna, it is included in the UNESCO list. It is a small Greek cross with a dome above the intersection of the naves. Its greatest treasure is the wonderful mosaics that cover the entire interior. There are presentations of Christ the Good Shepherd, St. Lawrence, Evangelists, as well as the stellar vault and numerous plant and zoomorphic motifs.
