The sanctuary consists of five churches and chapels built during the 900 years between 1000 and 1918. The oldest of the churches today, built on the highest point of the rock, is dedicated to Saint Remedius and was built around 1000 AD over the saint's tomb. Numerous cultural events are organized among the walls of the sanctuary.
