Ruins of a Roman amphitheater, discovered during construction works in the late 20th century under the later buildings of Lecce. The theater dates from the 2nd century AD and could accommodate around 14,000. viewers. The auditorium and the stage below, as well as some arcades made of volcanic tuff have been preserved.
