The beautiful, neo-Romanesque church was designed by the architect J. Bittner and built in the years 1897-1899. It was erected to commemorate the centenary of Tyrol's consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the fiftieth anniversary of the coronation of Franz Joseph I. The mosaic on the facade from 1910 is the work of Ignaz Stolz.
