Lokaler Name: Aptera, Ottoman Fortress
Fort built after the Greek uprising in 1866 for better control of Crete. It is a stone building on a rectangular plan. There are round towers in the corners. The building has only narrow arrowslits. Inside is a courtyard surrounded by high walls.
